Eisner Speaks out About Topps
Michael Eisner is not speaking to the hobby just yet, but he is speaking to
the mainstream media about THE Hobby. Eisner told the Indianapolis Star he
really is going to try to turn Topps into a multi-media company where Bazooka
Joe can not only have his own Internet show, he could also be reaching out to
others in movies, webisodes and new media technology.
"I'm not going to say it's going to be the next Raiders of the Lost Ark but
that would be our goal," Eisner said in a story reported on www.Indystar.com.
He wants to turn the company into a Sports Entertainment Brand.
"There is no reason why there can't be Topps movies, Topps Internet, Topps
Television, Topps mini-series and Topps publications," he added.
Eisner has dealt with movie hits such as "The Mighty Ducks" and "Angels in
the Outfield," so why not "Star Warz," "Sponge Bob Square Pants," all of which
Topps has licensing rights for. It sounds as if Eisner wants the guys at Topps
to be more creative.
In the same right Eisner says the other Topps intriguing business is
WizKids which has games such as Mech Warrior, and again why not, didn't
Transformers set the movie and marketing world on fire enough to get them a
return on their investment? Then came the holidays, mega toys and more. But Joe
is still the key.
"I'm hoping that Bazooka Joe has that same little piece of your brain, or
somebody's brain," said Eisner. "And if it doesn't fit it will just be a good
movie, and we'll create a new emotion around it."

Company)
Eisner, successful at Paramount and Disney has his work cut out for him.
However he hopes with the iconic nature of Joe, not unlike Mickey (Mouse that
is) people will clamor for him just as well.
For now however Eisner says he's not sure how old Joe really should be
anyway. He says an entire team of people will help on that one and he's always
looking for people who share his vision.
"I've talked to a few talented and creative people who are thinking about
it," he told the Indy Star.
